Welcome to the web site of Unit 164 of the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL)
Unit 164 is responsible for hosting bridge tournaments in Lexington, KY.
Clubs in the Unit
History of the Bridge Club:
The Bridge Club of Lexington was formed in 1946 in a building on Short Street. The club then moved to the Phoenix Hotel for the next 20 years
or so and while there hosted the ACBL NABC in 1968. Current day players John Hinkle and Susan Bullard were caddies. The club then moved to the Bell House for approximately 15 years. During this time there were small individually owned games which met at various locations until they came together at Park Hills. While at Park Hills, the players who objected to smoking at the table left and formed the Bridge Studio on Euclid
Avenue. While separated, both groups were unsuccessful in meeting expenses and came back together and incorporated in 1993 while playing
at the Chinoe Village shopping center where they played for 5 years. The club then moved to their current location undergoing a few renovations
to make the club what it is today.
These 3 clubs are in ACBL District 11 which is part of ACBL.
